Overview of St. Kitts and Nevis

The Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, more officially called the Federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis, is a country consisting of two islands and located in the Caribbean region. It is known as the smallest sovereign state in the Western Hemisphere, in terms of both: population and area.

 

Saint Kitts and Nevis is a Commonwealth, with the British monarch as head of state. The capital city of the country is Basseterre, which is located on the larger island of Saint Kitts. The island of Nevis, which is smaller, lies about 3 km southeast of Saint Kitts.

Climate and culture

Most inhabitants of the islands are Christians, mainly Anglicans and Protestants. Local people are mostly quite religious, subsequently, the island contains several churches. As in most of the Caribbean cultures music and festivities play an important role in social life and culture. One of the most loved sports is cricket, which is a British legacy.

 

The climate on the island is tropical, hot and extremely humid all year round. It often rains, especially in summer. The surrounding sea is warm enough for swimming and diving all year round, making it a perfect destination for divers and swimmers.

Immigration and tourism in St. Kitts and Nevis

As tourism industry grows the demand for vacation property rises in conjunction. In hopes of promoting tourism, St. Kitts and Nevis organizes its annual St. Kitts Music Festival.

In order for an investor to receive citizenship, he or she needs to make an investment into an approved real estate development project and pass the government’s background checks. Although the citizenship program catapulted in 2006, it was established in 1984 making it the oldest prevailing economic citizenship program in the world.

 

There is a minimum investment to be made by the investor, in either a Sugar Industry Diversification Foundation (a public charity) or approved real estate project, in order to qualify for the economic citizenship of Saint Kitts and Nevis. An investment in real estate needs to have a minimum value of 400,000 USD plus the payment of government fees and other fees and taxes. A charity contribution to the Sugar Industry Diversification Fund needs to be at least 250,000 USD, all government fees included but exclusive of due diligence fees.
